BOMBS away! We still LOVE bathbombs!

Bathbombs are all the rage – and it isn’t any wonder why we all love them so.

Packed together dry with other ingredients, baking soda and citric acid are completely non-reactive. As soon as they are introduced to water, they dissolve and effervesce, releasing the other ingredients into the bath water.
At Passion Flower beauty, we use natural ingredients like organic shea butter, essential oils, sunflower oil and sea salt. Some contain dried flower petals and even glitter!
Our bath bombs are moisturizing to the skin, and invigorating to the senses. Aromatherapy has been known to help with everything from stress to the common cold – and the pure essential oils in our bathbombs can sooth tired muscles, as well as your   stuffy sinuses.

While the glitter used in some of these bath bombs is biodegradable, and considered safe and eco-friendly, we know that some of our friends are still concerned and would rather not use the glitter bombs. We have plenty to choose from.
Ninja bombs, Star Wars bombs, eucalyptus, calendula, chocolate mint, lemongrass, cucumber melon, sinus relief, stress relief, lavender, cuppa joe, blueberry, detox, lavender sage, oatmeal milk and honey, festival, tie dye, Moroccan vanilla, and lavender mint are all free of glitter, and full of relaxing ingredients- and a couple of them even have a toy inside!! (And they make great holiday gifts and stocking stuffers!)

Anti-aging, anti-oxidant rich – Rooibos!

Rooibos, or “red bush” comes from South Africa.  The leaves of this herb can be used to make a rich, red tea that is caffeine free and full of anti-oxidants.  Consumed largely in South Africa for many years, it is now used all over the world, where it is fast becoming known for its amazing anti-oxidant properties.  We are excited about using it in our newest facial creme!

th

Rooibos possesses a large amount of minerals such as iron, copper, calcium, potassium and  magnesium, and also has polyphenols and alpha hydroxy acid.  What does all this mean for skin?  Well, we will tell you!!

Some of the rare anti-oxidants in rooibos have amazing anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and even anti-bacterial qualities.  This is great for people who have common skin problems, such as eczema, some types of acne, and other problem skin.  Some of these anti-oxidants are hard to find in other herbs, so using rooibos in our facial creme makes it unlike most you can find anywhere else.

Our new facial creme is an exfoliate.  It helps scrub away the dead skin cells so that new cells can be created.  Rooibos helps remove the dead skin cells, and then aids in promoting the production of healthy skin cells This creme leaves your skin feeling and looking clearer and healthier – because it actually is.

But that is not all there is to love about this amazing herb.  We know it fights common skin irritations, acne, and even bacterial infections; yet there is still another quality of this fantastic plant – ANTI-AGING!! The great and powerful rooibos helps combat and neutralize free radicals, which are a major culprit in causing the fine lines and wrinkles we all dread.  With regular use, it can even reduce the appearance of those wrinkles!

340262-58c5d07f5230432ea08fffa8e3217161

We are so excited about using rooibos in our products, and we hope you will give it a try.  You will be so glad you did!

Sugar scrubs

                                  Sugar Scrubs

What is sugar scrub? What are they used for? Why do I use them? Are they good for me? Why sugar?  We all have questions about sugar scrubs, but let’s find out exactly what sugar scrubs are and the many benefits and uses we can get from them.

scrub-548198_1920

Sugar scrubs are an exfoliating body treatment. These are a much more gentle alternative to salt scrubs, that many of you have heard of. When spas began to open, they used salt scrubs as the most common treatment for the body.  Salt scrubs were considered to be more effective at exfoliating the skin because of how rough and aggressive they were. This actually hurt the body more than helped it. Soon after spas found out the salt scrubs hurt the body, they moved onto sugar scrubs. A sugar scrub actually is great for sensitive skin and those who are trying to find a new, gentle way to exfoliate the skin. Sugar scrubs hydrate your skin and leave it feeling soft and silky.

So what are the benefits to sugar scrubs?

Regularly exfoliating your skin once or twice a week helps to speed up the skin’s regeneration process, removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores to refresh, smooth and polish skin. We should exfoliate because what we eat, drink, and hormones can cause our bodies to become dry, red, puffy, etc. This is why we need to exfoliate. In order to balance out our skin we need to exfoliate often.

Why sugar scrubs?  A natural sugar scrub can help to remove dry and flaking skin cells and brighten tired, dull looking skin to promote smooth and healthy skin. It is important to give your skin a hand and make sure its unclogged and clarified. This is achieved by exfoliating regularly.

Sugar scrubs come in many colors and fragrances. It is best to find the all-natural ones that can help your skin to feel healthier in just a few uses. Passion Flower Beauty has quite a few of these sugar scrubs and you can find them online at http://www.passionflowerbeauty.com.

BOMBS AWAY! Why we love bath bombs!

There is a craze that has become extremely popular within the last few years.  It is called the Bath Bomb! These magical bath bombs have been around for over 30 years!  The basic ingredient in bath bombs is baking soda. Some have sea salt, therapeutic oils and minerals, healing agents, and even glitter. Some often come with a nice little trinket or treasure inside of it. Many fans of bath bombs love them because of the colorful effect that they have on the water or the more natural ingredients unlike bubble baths that can irritate the skin.

Everyone seems to have jumped aboard the bath bomb craze and for great reason too!  This craze has gotten a lot of exposure and now everywhere we look, we can find some kind of bath bomb or fizzy.  There are even bath bombs for children with cartoon characters and movie characters. Because they are so incredibly gentle, parents love to buy them for their younger children.

This is a trend that is going to stay around for quite some time. Everyday, it seems more and more people are learning to produce them as well. It’s the perfect time to look around and find the best bath bombs for your interests. You will be surprised at exactly what you find.

For the Love of Lemongrass

flowers-3160012_1920

Ahh the fresh smell of Lemongrass. We have really started to love it more and more here at Passion Flower Beauty. What is it about that fragrance? Is it the sweet, citrus scent or the way it makes us feel? Recently, we have noticed that Lemongrass has gained quite a bit of popularity. That is why we wanted to share with all of our fans what we have found on it.

Lemongrass is native to Asia and has been used for centuries in healing ailments such as colds. It is now being used in Aromatherapy for killing germs and helping to reduce muscle aches and pains. The aroma of it is much like lemon, but with a little sweeter touch to it.

There has been quite a bit of scientific research done on Lemongrass and the findings have been quite astonishing! When used in an office setting, when Lemongrass was diffused, it actually helped to get rid of 85% of the bacteria and germs that were lingering around the office! Science has also proven that it can help you to fight off pesky insects like mosquitoes.

pexels-photo-709622.jpeg

At Passion Flower Beauty, we have been using Lemongrass in our lotions and soaps. We are launching a new line of Lemongrass soaps and Goat’s Milk. These soaps will help those sore muscles and keep your body smelling and feeling good!

When used in lotions, Lemongrass has antiseptic properties as well. It can help to treat internal and external wounds. If you have a cut or scrape, applying Lemongrass to the cut will help it heal and without becoming infected.

Lemongrass can also be used to help get rid of headaches. When you add two drops of Lemongrass to a carrier oil such as coconut oil, then apply it to your temples, you will be able to find some relief from those awful headaches.

Lemongrass not only has these healing powers, but it can also help to boost your mood. Being a citrus oil means that it has mood balancing properties much like wild orange and grapefruit. Are you curious about Lemongrass? Let us answer all of your questions and even tell you where to find the best!

There are many ways that we can change our beauty routine and one of those is to moisturize! There are so many products on the market now that promise to give your skin the best ingredients. It is important that you look out for these products because not all of them are good for your skin. So what do you need to look for?

Lip Balms:

In the winter, we all use a lot of lip balms. If you are not sure if you are using the right ones, your lips could be getting dryer by the minute. Here are some that dry out your lips and you should not use them during the cooler months.

Any artificial flavors and colors

Lotions:

Lotions are important for our chapped hands and faces so what ingredients are good and which ones are bad? Here are a few that are really good for your skin.

These are bad for your skin.

Creating A Skin Care Routine

cream-1327847_1920

When I was younger, my skin care routine consisted of washing my face in the shower with soap and a wash cloth. I never had acne and I was blessed with porcelain skin that was soft and worry free. Then I began to age and try new products. In my teenage years, I discover cosmetics and lotions. I also found out what exfoliating was and that I should be doing it. I put a lot of stress on my skin and it began to show. I started breaking out in hives and rashes from all of the products that I was using. I realized that my skin was fragile and I was not doing the right things to it. I clearly needed a new skin care routine. Now that I am approaching 40 years old, I have changed it again. How do you know what type of skin care routine you need? Here are some tips for women who are new at this.

What is your skin type?

When of the first things that you need to do before starting this routine is being aware of what type of skin you have. There are quite a few and you are bound to fit into one of these categories.

Normal, Oily, Dry, and Combination are all skin types. No matter what type of skin you have, there is always a chance that you may have very sensitive skin. This is also important to know when you are about to start a new skin care routine. If you have discovered that your skin is allergic to a specific product, try to find out what ingredient it is allergic to. This will help you to decide what to try as part of your new skin care routine.

Once you have your products, it’s time to start taking better care of your skin!

Here is what your daily routine should look like:

Mornings:

Apply a cleanser as soon as you wake up. This will help get all of the residue off of your face from the night before.

Use a toner to help balance out your skin after you have cleaned it.

Apply a moisturizer as soon as the toner dries.

Apply sunscreen to your face to keep it protect everyday. I apply sunscreen 3 to 5 times a day because of my higher elevation and I teach preschool and we are always outside!

Night time Routine:

Remove all of your make-up with a gentle cleanser.

Make sure that you exfoliate. Make sure it is gentle on your skin.

Apply the toner.

Lastly, apply your acne or anti-aging night time treatments. It is never too late to start on the anti-aging creams!

Daily Goodie Box Returns

I was given the great pleasure to review the July version of the Daily Goodie Box. There were quite a few products in here that I was very excited to try! Let’s get started:

Palo Popcorn – Premium Cheddar Cheese: I was expecting this to be tasteless or taste like your run of the mill “diet food”… I was wrong. It was delicious! I do not eat popcorn often, but I could feel great about eating this as a snack.
Natural Vitality – Natural Calm Anti-Stress Drink: I love this brand in general and it was great to see some samples from them. I really enjoyed this drink and it came in quite a few flavors.
Balla For Men – Tingle Formula Body Powder: My husband really liked this powder. He generally does not use this type of stuff, but he did for the review. He was happy with it.
Davidson’s Organics – Coconut Vanilla Dessert Tea: I love tea and it was so great to see some tea in the goodie box this month! So tasty!!!
FlapJacked –  Milk Chocolate Protein Smoothie Mix: I drink quite a few smoothies and now I have one that I can turn to on a daily basis. No need for the blender..
Detox Water – Mangaloe (Mango): I cannot say how much I love this! I want to go to the store and buy it now! It was so delicious ( I love Mango) and refreshing.
Watusee Foods – Organic Chickpeatos: This is the one thing is this month’s box that I did not enjoy. The texture was very odd to me and they were very dry. Just not something I like.
Goddess Garden – Natural Mineral Sunscreen Lip Balm: I love anything from this brand and I was so happy to get a lip balm! I love the orange vanilla flavor!
Honey Stinger – Cran-Apple & Walnut Snack Bar: YUMMY!! I want more! These were the right flavor with the right amount of nutrients too.
Curoxen – First Aid Ointment: This is a great product and I am glad that I have a little extra for those cuts I always seem to get.
