Making soaps is one of our loves. Ever since we began doing it, we have felt this sense of pride as we cut each one. The molds that we have are all part of the personalities here at PFB. The ingredients are our favorite scents, oils, and colors. You are probably thinking, “how do you get those amazing colors?” The answer, our friends, is natural colorants.

It is difficult to find the most natural and healthy ingredients to put in our soaps. We have change the soap recipes so many times and we have now gotten our soaps to where we want them. Healthy, healing, and all-natural. This has come with time, a lot of time in the lab, and testing out things over and over again. We are proud of what we have done and want to introduce you to more of our colorants.

Orange Peel Powder

Orange peel powder has been used in Chinese medicine for hundreds of years. We use it to add yellows and oranges to our soaps. It has a small aroma to it, but we love to mix it with Wild Orange and Tangerine oils.

Rose Clay

Rose clay is in the Kaolin clay family. It is generally used to help to exfoliate the skin and we love the beautiful light pink, dark pink, and almost red shades that it brings to our Rose soaps.

Madder Root

Madder root powder can give soaps a bright orange and bright red look. It is generally used for softening the skin and making it have a healthy glow.

Spirulina Powder

This is one of our favorites because it’s something that we use for smoothies too! It is very green in color and makes gorgeous greens and blues when mixed with whiter powders.

Activated Charcoal

For the black color in soaps, we like to use activated charcoal. It is also in our mascaras. It can make beautiful blacks and grey.

Hibiscus Powder

Although it looks red in color, when added to our melt and pour process, it comes out very grey and blue. Made from the flowers of local hibiscus flowers too!

We are always experimenting with different flowers from our greenhouses to add color and aromas to our soaps. We will continue to find new, all-natural colors to add to our soaps.

In fact, we have quite a few new ones that features these powders. Please check out the soaps at http://www.passionflowerbeauty.com.
